International performer, Cerrito, who has entertained audiences around the globe for decades with his own style of country music, blending Spanish and English lyrics. Cerrito is releasing new music, hosting major events and expanding the historical impact of Nashville's first record label to market Latin flared country music, Checo Records.
Cerrito is leading off 2024 with a 3 song EP titled, "Laying Low Down in Mexico." Besides the brand new, original title track written by Philip Russell and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member Whitey Shafer, the bilingual performer brands classic songs ‘Music is My Woman’ and ‘Ravishing Ruby’ like you’ve never heard them before, complete with horns and romanticized intertwining Spanish lyrics.
That fresh music has sparked a string of shows, including an upcoming, epic Cinco De Mayo event and a new production for the high energy performer, intimate songwriting showcases.

‘Laying Low Down in Mexico’ embraces Cerrito’s natural style. The title track is written by Philip Russell and Whitey Shafer, who has penned hit songs for George Jones, Lefty Frizzell and George Strait.
Cerrito is no stranger to Nashville’s famed Music Row. As a long standing member of the CMA, he has entertained crowds at the annual CMA Fest. And his music has earned him some impressive accolades.
Cerrito’s collaboration with Lane Brody garnered the stars two Best Country Group/Duo awards in 2010 from New Music Weekly and the Independent Music Network.
Cerrito’s recording, “Hot Pepper Doll” hit number one on several notable music charts, including The New Music Weekly Country and Indie Charts, as well as international country music charts in Australia and Japan. That chart-topping hit led to an accompanying video that swept the dance floors with line dancers from 14 countries, amassing 500,000 views worldwide upon release.
The castanets, rippling acoustic guitar and Mexicali trumpets on the song titled ‘Dona Carmela’ earned Cerrito a top ten hit on the European top 100 Radio Airplay Chart. The song was also a big hit in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Poland, France, The Netherlands, Sweden and the UK.
In 2017, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum added the recordings of Checo Records to their prestigious archives, honoring Checo Records as the first Nashville record label to sign and market music that combined Latin and Country Music.
Cerrito and Checo Records are credited with founding the Cinco de Mayo Benefit Concerts for Walden’s Puddle Wildlife Rescue and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Cerrito has shared the stage with many of the greats, including Loretta Lynn, Little Big Town, Charley Pride, Tammy Wynette, Dottie West, Lane Brody, Lynn Anderson and others.
